PIÑATA – adopted

Melbourne, Victoria
Staffy x working breed • 1.5 years old • Female

Our gorgeous Piñata came to HQ with her 6 babies and she has won everyone over with her happy tail and gorgeous eyes.

We believe Piñata is part Ridgeback and part Staffy with sprinkle of some other bits and bobs for good measure. She is incredibly sweet and before coming to HQ she lived with a male dog. Having a buddy isn’t necessarily a deal breaker, but someone who can remind her how to be a companion and not a milk bar will be an advantage.

We believe Piñata is roughly 18 months old, so really only a puppy herself. With that in mind, her home will need to be fully and securely fenced because she does like to make friends with the neighbours. She’s not aggressive when she goes to make her friends – she’s just curious.

Most importantly, Piñata’s new family will need to give her the time and space to learn how to be a dog again. Her six little vampire babies have taken a lot out of her, and so she looks a bit thin. Nothing a bit of TLC won’t fix.

BEFORE

You read Piñata’s adoption criteria it is extremely important that potential adopters communicate in their adoption application as to what their home set up and routine plan is for the first few weeks if they are the successful adopter of our gorgeous Mama Piñata. Piñata CANNOT be settled in over just a weekend and then left on a Monday home alone while you return to work … she is going to need a family who can commit to ensuring she transitions into their home because she has been through a lot in the past few months, and needs to be set up for success.

ADOPTION CRITERIA

Deal breakers:
–          She must have inside and outside access, with some outdoor shade. She’s must not be an outside dog.
No young children under 7 years old (small children might intimidate Piñata)
–          Need to be home more often than not
–          You must have a fully fenced yard
–          A balanced, raw diet is what we expect to be continued for Piñata so she can continue to gain weight and stay bright and friendly.
Non deal breakers:
–          We expect her forever family to conduct some obedience training with Piñata to allow her to exercise her brain as well as her body
–          While we would be willing to rehome her outside of Victoria, potential forever families would need to come to HQ for a meet and greet
Health:
–          Piñata is a little thin, but is in otherwise excellent health. Good quality food and a great home will fix that quickly
–          She is microchipped, vaccinated and desexed.
