PARTRIDGE PIE

Macedon Ranges, VIC
Total mix breed (12 to be exact) • approx 10 months old • Female

Did you ever want to own an Australian Cattle Dog? Or perhaps a Rottweiler is more your speed? What about Rhodesian Ridgeback? The thing is, we have all that to offer one lucky family, and her name is PARTRIDGE PIE!

It’s hard to describe our sweet Partridge Pie when people ask “what is she?”. Like all Life of Pikelet dogs before her, we standby our claim that Partridge is an authentic LoP pedigree rescue mutt, sprung from a regional country pound after she was found as a stray puppy.

However we did do a comprehensive DNA test, it’s with one of the most reputable companies so we think this is pretty spot on (as crazy as the results are).

Our petite sweet spotted white girl is the following:

15% Australian Cattle Dog
14% Rottweiler
13% Cane Corso
13% Greyhound
12% Rhodesian Ridgeback
9% Bullmastiff
8% Miniature Bull Terrier
6% Bull Terrier
4% Pumi
2% Nordic Spitz
2 % Scottish Deerhound
2% American Staffordshire Terrier
198% Goodest Girl

It’s a lot, right? Now go look at this beauty and see if you see all these breeds mixed in!

Partridge is truly a gem of a dog, she is whip smart, gentle, active, cuddly, beautiful, polite, dog social, human social, she is pretty much fully grown and weighs around 20kgs. I’m not sure there is anything more you could ask of a dog. Oh and she’s 100% crate trained, routine loving, sofa snuggler extraordinaire.

No, we don’t know what she is like with pocket pets or cats, but she does co-exist in foster care with a couple of miniature ponies, three fallow deer, puppies and adult dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes, and yet, she has never had an altercation or problem with any. A family of Magpies hangout with her and her foster siblings in the yard, again, with no issues.

You may know if you’ve followed Life of Pikelet for a while, we are a warts and all kind of rescue. We pride ourselves on transparency. The biggest downfall of adopting Partridge is that she will need a little monthly investment into her white-dog-skin-issues. Currently Partridge Pie has cytopoint injections about once a month. She is on a premium balanced raw diet and she also has a spot on treatment of the essential oils for dogs.

Another thing that we want to be up front about is that Partridge will, without fail, tear up and annihilate any bed, blanket, towel, sheet, etc that is placed in her crate to lay on. Thankfully she doesn’t seem to ingest any of it, just likes to destroy it.

BEFORE you read Partridge’s adoption criteria it is extremely important that potential adopters give great thought and communicate in their adoption application as to what their home set up and routine plan is for the first few weeks/months if they are the successful adopter of this most precious doggo. Partridge cannot be settled in over just a weekend and then left on a Monday home alone while you return to work… There needs to be a plan outlined so that her foster family can feel assured that she is going to be set up for success in her new home.

ADOPTION CRITERIA

Deal breakers:

  • Must be committed to basics training, Partridge has had minimal training while in foster care. But she is a very quick learner (and we aren’t just saying that). If an adopter fails to train this sweet hound, you’ll find very quickly that she’ll be running circles around you!
  • Daily exercise and a good quality diet is essential to making sure this long noodle lives a long and happy life.
  • Another dog sibling, this is something we feel is a deal breaker, Partridge thrives when in the company of other dogs. She will absolutely struggle being an only dog unfortunately.
  • It is not negotiable that Partridge’s new forever family stay in contact with LoP Rescue and her foster family. This sweet baby is a very special girl and we hope to stay in her life to support her and her family and see what she achieves.

Non deal breakers:

  • A family or human who is home more than not, especially for the first few weeks of adoption so Partridge can settle in. It’s every rescuer’s dream to find an adoptive family that is home all the time, however it isn’t a deal breaker. Partridge is so intelligent that if left for very long periods unsupervised, she will likely get up to mischief.

HEALTH

Partridge Pie is in overall excellent health. She has had all three of her puppy vaccinations and isn’t due for her annual vaccination for a few more months. At this time Partridge has not been desexed, though we are planning on having this done in coming weeks, and if not before she is adopted, we will provide her new family of where they can have her spayed at our expense. Change of Ownership only becomes official once desexing certificate is provided.

Skin issues have been a thing for Partridge since the day she came into care. We’ve found that she has zero itchiness when on her regular cytopoint injections.
