PADDLEPOP

Macedon Ranges, VIC
Rottie x Golden Retriever • 14 months old • Male

Introducing 100% purebred-mix-breed-RESCUE-pedigree-mutt “MIDNIGHT RETRIEVER”

PADDLEPOP!

Paddlepop, or Paddle for short, is not your ordinary dog; he’s a one-of-a-kind blend of Golden Retriever charm and Rottweiler resilience. Born in rescue care, Paddlepop is the result of a magical mix that brings out the best in both breeds. His glossy black fur might fool you into thinking he’s a pure (Black) Golden Retriever, but his heart and spirit are a melting pot of love and adventure.

At a sprightly 14 months old, Paddlepop is a big boy with even bigger dreams. His tail wags with such enthusiasm that it could power a small country – truly, when he’s happy, his whole body dances with joy! Despite his size, Paddlepop is a gentle giant, especially around his much smaller foster siblings. He’s mastered the art of playfulness while still being considerate to those smaller than him.

Paddlepop is not just a good-looking model face; he’s got brains to match. Toilet trained and crate trained, this pup is as disciplined as he is charming. Having grown up in the serene countryside, Paddle might need a little time to get used to the hustle and bustle of the city – he’s got a nose for adventure and is eager to explore all the new sights, sounds, and smells the city has to offer.

Although Paddlepop hasn’t been tested with cats, he’s had encounters with adult deer and miniature ponies without a hitch. He may have a penchant for chasing small (deer) fawns, but rest assured, it’s all in good fun – no harm intended. When it comes to human children, Paddlepop is a gentle soul, making him the ideal companion for a family looking to add a furry prince to their kingdom, though keep in mind that this big baby dog is now close to 60kgs of fun!

This lovable lad is seeking a forever home where he can bask in the love and attention he deserves. Whether it’s joining you for movie night on the sofa or exploring the great outdoors, Paddlepop is your go-to adventure buddy. A quick learner with a heart full of love, he’s ready to become the crown jewel of your family.

Paddlepop is desexed and is all set and ready to embark on a lifetime of love and companionship. If you’re up for the challenge of keeping up with this spirited pup, prepared to offer him a balanced raw fed diet, and dedicated to continuing his training, then Paddlepop is the canine companion you’ve been waiting for!

BEFORE you read Paddle’s adoption criteria it is extremely important that potential adopters give great thought and communicate in their adoption application as to what their home set up and routine plan is for the first few weeks/months if they are the successful adopter of this most precious pupper. Paddle cannot be settled in over just a weekend and then left on a Monday home alone while you return to work… There needs to be a plan outlined so that his foster family can feel assured he is going to be set up for success in his new home.

ADOPTION CRITERIA

Deal breakers:

– Paddle will need ongoing manners training, he is a fast learner and SUCH a people pleaser (like his Mama Popcorn) that it will be rewarding for both Paddle and his parent/s.

– Paddlepop will howl endlessly if he doesn’t have a canine companion with him, he is totally fine on walks or naps in his crate without company, but this is a pup that NEEDS another dog or two in the family. Sorry, not negotiable.

– Paddle is a social lad and a couple of daily walks/park plays to catch up on the neighbourly gossip is an absolute.

– Paddlepop is currently moving onto a balanced raw diet, we find this is works great for premium digestive health.

– Paddle must have access inside the house at all times, the couch is king and he’s the prince.

– Paddle is not suited to someone who is looking for a large “lap dog” for their retired elderly parents or grandparents. He is a young, healthy pup and more obviously to all that meet him, a very active pup.

– The lucky adoptive family of Paddle will need to be ready to keep in regular touch with his foster Grandmamas at Life of Pikelet throughout the duration of his life.

Non deal breakers:

– It’s not a deal breaker, but Paddle would do so well with a family who can taking him for weekend extracurricular actives like dock diving (he loves the water), or agility or sheep herding etc.

– It is again not a deal breaker, however aside from Paddle’s forever family staying in touch with his foster Grandmas (which is a deal breaker), we’d love his forever family to consider the idea of staying in contact with his birth Mama and birth sister’s forever families.

– It’s not often we strongly suggest this, but the name “Paddlepop” is SUCH a great one and this boy really responds to it, that we here at Life of Pikelet Rescue would love it if he kept his name… but of course not a deal breaker!

HEALTH

Paddlepop is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and is soon to be desexed. He has had absolutely no health issues ever in his entire life! Not even a yeast ear infection (which is common for Goldens and Rotties).
